From your client area, click "setup here" to launch your configuration template.
This is the screen you will see. You can copy and paste the information into the program when it launches.
Your password can't be copied but it is located in your client area.
Next click your download for your OS. This guide is done with Windows.
Next enter the information from the screen above.
Yay!
If you have files on your seed box, this is where you can view them.
Notice on the left side where it says labels and trackers. You can click one of the tags, and it will only show content with that tag. Which is a great way to track your downloads.
Under layout, I also enabled ETA and Ratio, because those are important information to me.
Electorrent is a great way to access rutorrent like native application in your PC MacBook or Linux device.
- Download electorrent for windows here
- Download electorrent for Mac here
- Download electorrent for Linux here
The installation is a straight forward like any package installer in your respective device
Once installed and you run electorrent, you will get a screen like this:
- IP address: As displayed in your seedbox control panel
- Select HTTPS
- Username: As displayed in your seedbox control panel.
- Password: As displayed in your seedbox control panel.
- Client Program: Choose rtorrent from the dropdown.
- Port : 443
- rpc address : /rutorrent/plugins/httprpc/action.php
- Tick on RPC check box.
For me the final setup looked something like this:
Once done click on Connect large green button
Your electorrent will open up like a native torrent client like this :
One cool way to use seedbox is through the use of electorrent and make it act as the default torrent file handler.
To do this, do the following steps
- Download a torrent file
- Right click on it, hover on Open with and then click on Choose another app
Then select electorrent from the list , for some you might have to scroll a bit to locate electorrent on the list,
Put the check mark on Always use this app to open .torrent files and click okay.
Now double click on any torrent file and it will directly load into electorrent .
Adding torrents to Electorrent manually
You can drag and drop a torrent tracker file to electorrent
Or you can manually add them by clicking on the File menu item and then either choose by file or by link. In the pate torrent URL option, you can also paste magnet links.
Connecting Electorrent to your seedbox
Electorrent runs on your computer, not on the seedbox — there is nothing to
install server-side. It talks to the ruTorrent instance you already have, so all you need are the same
details you use to log into the web interface:
- Open Electorrent and go to Servers → Add Server.
- Set the client type to ruTorrent.
- Enter your ruTorrent URL exactly as it appears in your browser’s address bar, including
https://and any path after the hostname. - Enter the username and password from your client area.
- Save, then connect. Your torrent list should appear within a second or two.
Troubleshooting
- Connects but the list stays empty — the URL is usually missing its path.
Electorrent needs the full ruTorrent address, not just the hostname. - Authentication fails while the browser works — you are almost certainly using
your client-area password rather than the seedbox application password. They are separate. - Certificate warnings — Electorrent has a built-in trust system for
self-signed certificates; accept the certificate once and it is remembered. - Magnet links do not open in Electorrent — the app registers itself as the
magnet handler on first run. If your browser still opens something else, reset the magnet protocol
association in your OS settings and restart Electorrent.
Prefer the browser? Everything Electorrent does is available in ruTorrent itself — see
the ruTorrent guide.
