AudiobookBay Automated is a simple web app that lets you search AudiobookBay for audiobooks and send them straight to the rTorrent client on your seedbox with one click. There is nothing to configure — the app connects to your rTorrent automatically, labels every download, and drops finished audiobooks into a dedicated folder that pairs perfectly with Audiobookshelf. This guide covers installing it, finding and downloading audiobooks, and fixing the few issues you might run into.

Why Use AudiobookBay Automated?

  • Search AudiobookBay from a clean web interface — no browsing the site or copying magnet links by hand
  • One-click downloads sent directly to your own rTorrent client
  • Zero configuration — your rTorrent connection is set up automatically at install
  • Every download is labeled audiobooks and saved to its own folder, so your torrent list stays organized
  • Built-in Status page to track download progress
  • Works hands-in-glove with Audiobookshelf for streaming your finished audiobooks

Downloads run entirely on your seedbox through your own rTorrent client, so ratio tracking, seeding, and disk quota all work exactly as they do for torrents you add in ruTorrent. The rTorrent connection is managed for you and automatically follows your client even after restarts — you never need to enter a host, port, or password.

Step 1: Install AudiobookBay Automated

Log in to client.evoseedbox.com, go to Services > My Services, click Manage on your seedbox, and find the AudiobookBay app card. Click Install.

Installation takes about 30 seconds. No setup popup appears because there is nothing to fill in — the connection to your rTorrent client is configured automatically. Once complete, the app card shows Open and Manage buttons. If you are new to installing apps, see Getting Started with One-Click Installs.

Step 2: Search for an Audiobook

Click Open on the app card. You land on the search page — type a book title, author, or series name and press Search. The app checks the first few pages of AudiobookBay results and shows each match as a card with its cover, language, format (MP3, M4B), bitrate, and file size.

Searches take a few seconds because the app queries AudiobookBay live. If a search comes back empty, try fewer or broader keywords — for example the author’s surname instead of the full book title.

Step 3: Download and Track Progress

Click the download button on any result. The app fetches the torrent details, builds the magnet link, and adds it to your rTorrent client — you will see a confirmation message. The download starts immediately.

Open the Status tab to watch progress. It lists every torrent labeled audiobooks with its name, progress percentage, and state (downloading, seeding, or stopped). The same torrents also appear in ruTorrent alongside the rest of your downloads, where you can pause, resume, or remove them like any other torrent.

Where Your Audiobooks Are Stored

Each audiobook is saved to its own folder inside your home directory:

downloads/audiobooks/<Book Title>/

You can reach the files through ruTorrent, the web file browser, or FTP/SFTP — see Mount Your Seedbox via SSHFS and WebDAV if you want the folder available directly on your computer.

Pair It with Audiobookshelf

AudiobookBay Automated handles finding and downloading; Audiobookshelf handles listening. Install Audiobookshelf from the same app catalog, then add downloads/audiobooks as its library folder. New audiobooks appear in your Audiobookshelf library automatically after each download completes, ready to stream to your browser or the Audiobookshelf mobile app with progress sync.

Troubleshooting

The Status page says “Connection refused”

This means your rTorrent client is not running right now — the app itself is fine. Restart rTorrent from your client area (Manage > Restart rTorrent) or open ruTorrent to confirm it is back, then reload the Status page. If rTorrent will not start, open a support ticket.

Searches return no results or an error

The app searches AudiobookBay live, so if the site is slow or temporarily unreachable, searches fail with it. Wait a few minutes and try again, and keep search terms short — author surname or series name works better than a full exact title.

I clicked download but nothing shows up

Check the Status tab first, then ruTorrent. Occasionally a listing on AudiobookBay has no working info hash, in which case the app shows a “Failed to extract magnet link” message — pick a different upload of the same book. If the torrent was added but sits at 0% with no peers, the torrent simply has no active seeders; try another release.

Downloads are slow

Audiobook torrents often have only a handful of seeders, so speeds depend on the swarm rather than your seedbox. Releases with more seeders (shown on AudiobookBay) download faster. Your seedbox connection is never the bottleneck for these.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to configure the rTorrent connection myself?

No. The installer wires the app to your rTorrent client automatically over a private connection on the server, and it keeps working even after rTorrent restarts. There are no hosts, ports, or passwords to enter.

Will the audiobooks seed after downloading?

Yes. They are normal torrents in your rTorrent client, so they seed according to the same rules as everything else and count toward your ratio. You can manage them from ruTorrent at any time.

Where do finished audiobooks go?

Into downloads/audiobooks/<Book Title>/ in your home directory, one folder per book. They are visible in ruTorrent, the file browser, and over FTP/SFTP.

Does it work with Audiobookshelf?

Yes — that is the recommended pairing. Point an Audiobookshelf library at downloads/audiobooks and every completed download appears there automatically, ready to stream or sync to your phone.

Can I remove an audiobook torrent without breaking the app?

Yes. Deleting the torrent (or its data) in ruTorrent simply removes it from the Status page too. The app has no state of its own — it always reflects what is currently in your rTorrent client.
