Coming from FileBot

If you used FileBot, most of what you know carries over: the format bindings, the amc parameters and the command-line flags have the same names. This page lists what is the same, what changed, and what is not there.

The same

• Formats — {n} {y} {s00e00} {t} {vf} {vc} {ac} {source} {group} {plex} …, methods like .pad(), .ascii(), .replaceAll(), .sortName(), fallbacks with ?: and if/else with ? :. Paste your saved formats as they are; see Rename format examples.
• amc — Settings → Auto-organise holds every --def parameter under its FileBot name (excludeList, seriesFormat, movieFormat, animeFormat, unsorted, clean, skipExtract, deleteAfterExtract, minFileSize, minLengthMS, ignore, plex/kodi/emby/jellyfin, pushover/pushbullet/discord/mail, exec, storeReport, reportError, ut_label…).
• Command line — -rename --db --format --action --conflict --q -non-strict -get-subtitles -check -extract -revert -list -mediainfo.
• History and revert, sidecar subtitles, multi-episode files, CD parts, specials, MediaInfo bindings, Plex naming standard.

What changed

• No licence to buy; it comes with the seedbox.
• Runs as a web app on the seedbox with your downloads, not on your PC over SFTP.
• Hardlink is the default action so torrents keep seeding; FileBot’s default was move.
• Finished torrents are picked up from rtorrent directly — no script hook to install.
• TheTVDB is bring-your-own-key; TVmaze and TheMovieDB cover TV by default. Anime uses AniDB.
• Strict matching is a little stricter: titles under three letters are never guessed.

Not there

• Groovy scripts and the script repository (use the settings, the after each file command, or the HTTP API).
• Subtitle upload to OpenSubtitles.
• Music tagging with AcoustID and photo renaming.
• A desktop app — planned; the web app works from any browser.

If a FileBot format renders differently, send it in a ticket; the corpus of common formats is tested and additions are cheap.
