What Is a Stremio Seedbox?

Stremio is a media player that pulls its catalogue from addons. Most addons point at
someone else’s public streams, which is why they are slow, unreliable, and frequently empty.

A Stremio seedbox flips that around. We run an addon on your own box that publishes
your library to Stremio: the torrents you are seeding, plus any folders you have saved.
Nothing is shared with anyone else, nothing is re-hosted, and playback comes off your own gigabit line
rather than a stranger’s overloaded server.

Why Not Just Use Public Stremio Addons?

  • They break constantly. Public scraper addons depend on sources that rate-limit,
    disappear or get blocked. Yours depends on a server you pay for.
  • Speed is whatever is left over. A community addon shares one upstream with thousands
    of people. Your seedbox does not.
  • Nothing is yours. Public addons cannot show the library you actually curated. Ours
    lists exactly what is on your box.
  • Your IP is not in the swarm. The seedbox does the torrenting; your player only talks
    to your own server over HTTPS.

Set Up in Three Steps

  1. Open ruTorrent from your client area and select the Stremio tab. It shows
    whether the addon is running and gives you your personal addon link.
  2. Copy your addon URL with the copy button.
  3. Add it to Stremio — Addons → Add addon → paste the URL, then install. Your
    library appears immediately.

Treat that URL like a password. It has your own configuration encoded into it, so
anyone you send it to can browse your library. Do not post it in a forum or a screenshot when asking for
help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this work with the normal Stremio app?

Yes. It is a standard Stremio addon and works with Stremio on desktop, Android, iOS and the web.
Nuplex is our own player with a few extras, but it is optional.

Do I need to keep seeding for something to stay watchable?

No. Active torrents show up automatically, and anything you copy into ~/downloads stays in
your library after you stop seeding.

Will it transcode for me?

The addon streams the file directly, which is the fastest and highest-quality route. If you need
transcoding for an older TV, run Plex or Jellyfin alongside it — they
coexist happily.

Can other people use my addon?

Only if you give them the URL, which we do not recommend. There is no public listing and no shared
index.

Which plan do I need?

Any of them. The integration is on every plan and every server. Bigger plans simply hold more.
