Why Naming Matters #
Your Plex server name appears in the Plex app on all devices. A clear name helps you (and anyone you share with) identify which server to use — especially if you have multiple servers or share with friends who have their own.
How to Change the Server Name #
- Open Plex Web → Settings → General
- Change Friendly name to something descriptive (e.g., „My Seedbox“, „Evoseedbox Media“)
- Click Save
Naming Best Practices #
- Keep it short and recognizable
- Avoid special characters (some Plex clients handle them poorly)
- If sharing, use a name others will recognize (not „localhost“ or „seedbox123“)
