Running evoads on this computer but still red? Then this browser is not using the system resolver.
- Browser DNS-over-HTTPS skips the system resolver. Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → DNS over HTTPS → Off (or Max Protection with your evoads URL). Chrome/Edge/Brave: Settings → Privacy and security → Security → Use secure DNS → off, or Custom with your evoads URL.
- Cached answers: reopen the browser or use a private window; Windows
ipconfig /flushdns, macOSsudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder. - System DNS not switched: Windows
nslookup ads.doubleclick.netshould answer from 127.0.0.1 with 0.0.0.0. If another server answers, another adapter (VPN, VM, hotspot) still has its own DNS; in the evoads window turn it off and on again. - A VPN is connected and pushes its own DNS (your seedbox WireGuard tunnel already uses evoads).
How it works: the page first asks this device's DNS for a canary name that only evoads blocks, which tells whether your lookups really go through evoads, then for four well-known ad and tracker hosts. A browser ad-blocker extension can block the ad hosts but never the canary.
